A stunning example of Italian craftsmanship, this chunky Murano glass ring features a vibrant orange inner band encased in clear glass with deep cobalt blue swirls. The design is elevated by shimmering "Aventurine" flecks—tiny suspended copper particles that sparkle like gold when they catch the light.
Dating & Research:
This style of "Sommerso" (submerged) glass ring was highly popular from the 1960s through the 1980s.
The Technique: The sparkling effect is known as Aventurine (from the Italian avventura, meaning "by chance"), a glassmaking secret discovered in Murano where metal filings are dropped into molten glass.
The Design: The thick, rounded "dome" or "bulb" shape is a classic mid-century Venetian design, often sold to tourists in Venice as high-end boutique jewelry.
